Living like the nail color “Too Old to Get Hired”?

Are you ready to live like your nail color?

If you’re over 40 and looking for a job can be especially tough, you might feel like you’re living like the nail color “Too Old to Get Hired.”

Career_Comebak_by_Lisa_Johnson_Mandell_featured_on_Girlfriend_We_Gotta_Talk_radio_show.comBecause all of a sudden what you’ve gained in experience is now showing in your looks and in your salary.  By many potential employers you’re too old and too expensive.  That’s what entertainment journalist Lisa Johnson Mandell, author of just-released book “Career Comeback – Repackage Yourself to Get the Job Your Want,” discovered when she sent out a resume that made her sound like an aged veteran.

You can get mad or you can do something about it.  Lisa took action.  And it worked; she landed a dream job.

If she did, so can you!

Susie Galvez and I spoke with Lisa on our latest “Girlfriend We Gotta Talk!” radio show, which I just posted on our website.  Loved her energy!

Why not take a listen?  And, if you or any gal over 40 you know who is looking for a job, forward this e-mail to her and urge her to listen, too.  It could be just the New Year motivation she needs to get the job she wants and deserves!

cheers,

My First Booksigning Today at 1 pm!

Gals_of_Simple_Pleasures_books__giftsI'm excited about my first book signing today for my brand new book "Live Like Your Nail Color, Even If You Have Naked Nails!"  It starts at 1 pm at Simple Pleasures Books & Gifts in the Richmond, VA area.

Simple Pleasures Books & Gifts is a women’s bookstore independently owned by a Richmond area mom, Brenda Seward, and her 3 daughters April, Theresa, and Stacey.  In support of local businesses, I thought it was the perfect place for her first signing.

In fact, Brenda wrote the first review on my new book for V Magazine for Women.  It was just posted on Thursday when I saw it for the first time.  Gotta say I was tickled - see what she said!

Honestly, I'll be doing more than signing book (you deserve more than that for making the trip!).  I'll be sharing some fun and funny things directly from the book and how they came about starting shortly after 1 pm.  My radio show co-host Susie Galvez will be there, too, adding her stories about how my book came about.

Kinda like my version of "Inside the Actor's Studio" but "Inside the Author's Keyboard."  LOL!

Even if you can't make it, you can call to reserve an autographed copy!  Below is a quick summary of info.  Check out the deals they are offering on my books, too.  :)

If you're anywhere in the Richmond, VA area, would love to have you stop by!

WHERE: Simple Pleasures Books & Gifts, 10180 Lakeridge Pkwy

Directions:  On 95N take the Atlee/Elmont exit, first one past the 95/295 interchange.  Head WEST.  Turn right at the first stop light by Home Depot.  Simple Pleasures Books & Gifts is next to Home Depot.

CAN’T MAKE IT BUT WANT A SIGNED COPY?  Call 804-368-7736 to reserve your copy and I'll make sure it's signed for you!

Are Your Nails Mild, Wild, or Naked?

Handsonkeyboard Just like your preferred skirt length or style of shoe, the nail color you choose reveals something about you.  What does your nail color say about you?  Take a quick look at your finger and toenails right now and find out!

Do you have a French manicure? Then you are one classy, sophisticated, and incredibly practical gal.  A French manicure makes your nails look finished and goes with any outfit.  As one gal said, “A French manicure is like diamonds.  It goes with everything!”

Are you wearing mocha or shade of brown on your nails? If you prefer a little more nail color, but still want to remain on the milder side, brown is a good nail color.  According to color expert Kate Smith, “brown says stability, reliability, and approachability.  It is the color of our earth and is associated with all things natural or organic.”  The woman who wears cream, tan, or any shade of brown nail polish tends to be that way, too.  She’s often the gal who you think of as grounded, someone you can say anything to and she doesn’t get upset.

Do you prefer a pink tone? Pink is the quintessential girly color, and one of the most popular for nails. For the milder child there’s light to medium pink, which means you’re the kind of gal who is friendly, happy, and lighthearted.  It is likely that you love pink because it reminds you of your more carefree days of childhood.  For the wilder child there’s bright pink.  If you love a hot pink, then you are known to be youthful, fun, and exciting.  Okay, so you may not be chronologically young, but I bet you certainly feel young and that your lifeblood is lots of talk and laughter, preferably at the same time!
